Tips and Tricks for Visiting Disney’s Epcot

Handy tips for your visit!

We’ve put together a useful guide filled with tips and tricks that will help you make the most of your visit to Disney’s Epcot park…

1. Arrive early

We always recommend arriving at any of the Walt Disney World parks early because this is so important for making the most of your visit. You’ll want to have as much time at the park as possible and arriving early means you’ll have plenty of time to explore before it gets busy. Another benefit of arriving early, is that you can get on some of the park’s most popular rides before the queues build.

As soon as you get through the gates, we’d suggest heading straight to Test Track if you’re a serious thrill seeker, or to Soarin’ Around the World if you’re visiting with little ones or just fancy something a bit tamer. These rides are both fan favourites and can often have long queues, so ride them first and you won’t have too long to wait.

2. Use your FastPass+ reservations wisely

Disney Fast Pass

It’s a good idea to make your first FastPass+ reservation for mid to late morning when the parks start to get busier. Unfortunately, some of the park’s most popular attractions are in the same category, so you’ll have to choose carefully. Frozen Ever After, Test Track and Soarin’ Around the World are 3 popular rides that are all in tier 1. We’d suggest making a FastPass+ reservation for the ride you want to try the most in tier 1. Then, by arriving early, you should be able to ride one (or two!) of the others without a long wait.

3. Use the single rider line for Test Track

If you arrive to find that there’s a long queue for Test Track, it’s worth considering the single rider line. If you don’t mind splitting up from your group, you can cut down your waiting time, as the single rider line is always much shorter. This is also a great option if you’ve already experienced this amazing attraction with your friends but can’t resist another go!

4. Don’t forget about the festivals

Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival

Epcot is famous for its incredible festivals like the International Flower & Garden Festival, the International Festival of the Arts and the International Food & Wine Festival- one of our favourites! Make sure you check what’s on before you arrive, so that you don’t miss out on the fun. Visiting during one of these fantastic festivals will give you the chance to see the park in a new light as you try new experiences, sample mouth-watering cuisine, enjoy special shows and much more.

5. Bring your autograph book

If you want to meet your favourite Disney characters (who doesn’t?), Epcot is one of the best Disney theme parks to visit. There are so many amazing character experiences here, including encounters with Disney princesses like Anna & Elsa, Mulan, Belle, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White in the World Showcase. You’ll find them in the countries where their Disney movies are set.

You’ll also get the chance to meet Joy and Sadness from Inside Out and get up close to Mickey and the gang.

6. Don’t eat before you go!

Epcot’s World Showcase area is made up of 11 countries, with each pavilion offering delicious dishes that originate from that country. There are so many fantastic dishes and tasty snacks to try, so we’d recommend visiting on an empty stomach. Some guests have been known to take on the ‘eat around the world challenge’ where they try something from every single country!

This definitely isn’t for everyone, but we’d at least suggest trying a few. From fish & chips in England, to tacos in Mexico and fresh pastries in France, you’ll want to try it all.

7. Check out the live entertainment

Throughout the World Showcase you’ll find lots of talented performers showing of their skills. Look out for Sergio in the Italy pavilion, who is a master juggler and mime artist, a mariachi band in the Mexico pavilion and the Jeweled Dragon Acrobats who perform breath-taking stunts before your eyes in the China pavilion.

8. End your night by watching the fireworks

IllumiNations at Epcot Walt Disney World

Each night, Epcot hosts a spectacular fireworks show called IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. The show celebrates the incredible history of our planet and the spirit of humanity. Watch in awe as a 350,000-pound Earth-globe glides along the lagoon, as dazzling fireworks erupt into the night sky and balls of fire are launched 60-feet into the air. Trust us when we say that you won’t want to miss this!
