With the likes of Disney World and Universal Studios, Orlando is full of magic all-year round, but over the Christmas and New Year period the city becomes even more magical.

Winter wonderlands pop up in the Floridian sun and those with Orlando theme park tickets and passes can enjoy the variety of themed events that take place throughout the parks in the city.

If you are holidaying in Orlando over Christmas and New Year then you need to read on as we take you through the best places to celebrate both events.

Walt Disney World Resort

If you have Disney world tickets this winter then you are in for a treat as there are a whole host of events planned over the festive period.

The Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, which takes place from now until December 31, presents a winter fairytale as Queen Elsa covers Cinderella's castle in glittering ice. There will be lively stage shows featuring Disney characters in their Christmas outfits and a holiday parade on Main Street. You can even enjoy complimentary cookies and hot chocolate around the park.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is debuting its Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM show and this explosive event will be featuring fireworks, holiday music and special effects.

If you are heading to Epcot then you won’t miss out on the Christmas cheer, as the Candlelight Processional is back. This joyous retelling of the Christmas story this year features celebrity narrators Neil Patrick Harris and Whoopi Goldberg, a 50-piece orchestra and several magnificent choirs.

Universal Orlando Resort

Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure both have exciting festive events taking place.

At Universal Studios Florida you can see the Macy’s Holiday Parade, taking place from 3 December to 1 January. Filling the streets every evening, the parade will boast floats, dancers and the same giant balloons that are seen in Macy’s iconic Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

Grinchmas descends on Seuss Landing at Universal’s Islands of Adventure and you can listen to a live retelling of Dr. Seuss’s beloved holiday tale during, “Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular”. This will feature the Whos from Who-ville and an original musical score by Mannheim Steamroller.

SeaWorld Orlando

There will be waves of holiday spirit being created at SeaWorld Orlando on selected nights from 25 November to 31 December.

The theme park will be turned into a wintery, watery wonderland during SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration as live shows light up the park. You and your family can meet Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and revel in a range of Rudolph-themed attractions too.

LEGOLAND Florida Resort

The Christmas Bricktacular event at LEGOLAND Florida will have a whole host of activities you can enjoy in the build-up to Christmas.

At the centre of the attractions will be a 30-foot-tall LEGO Christmas tree, which has been made with 270,000 LEGO and DUPLO bricks.

There is also a life-size LEGO Santa, reindeer and sleigh where you can get a fantastic Christmassy photograph taken.

The event will be open every weekend throughout December.

City of Winter Park

City of Winter Park

The City of Winter Park is again offering a garland of festive events this holiday season.

The season starts with its Winter in the Park holiday ice skating rink in Central Park West Meadow, which is open until 8 January. Winter in the Park is full of great festivities including holiday music and movies to name a few.

A special Holiday Pops concert will be taking place on 27 November and includes performances from the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art and the City of Winter Park will also be continuing a holiday tradition with the 38th Annual Christmas in the Park event. If you attend this event you will see the lighting of nine turn-of-the-century Tiffany windows and be able to listen to the Bach Festival Choir.

On 2 December you can attend the Winter on the Avenue holiday street party and the flurry of activities that will be taking place include the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus and Popcorn Flicks in the Park.

To wrap up the holiday season, the City of Winter Park will host the 10th Annual Russell Athletic Bowl Parade of Bands. Taking place on 28 December, this event attracts school bands from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and will march through downtown winter park ahead of the Russell Athletic Bowl game in the evening.

Enzian Cinema and Eden Bar’s annual New Year party is back and you should dress to impress in your best James Bond and Bond Girl outfits if you wish to attend.

The James Bond New Year’s Eve Party will be serving champagne and its signature cocktails from its open bar.

This year’s celebration will open its doors at 8pm and there will be a live DJ playing classic James Bond songs and on the stroke of midnight a confetti cannon and ball drop will take place.

Ticket prices cost just $99 (around £80) for general admission or $325 (around £262.82) for a VIP table for two.

LEGOLAND Florida’s Kids' New Year's Eve means families with young children can ring in the New Year before bedtime.

Before midnight you can bust out some moves at the exclusive dance party, catch the giant LEGO brick drop and enjoy LEGO-inspired fireworks.

Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park

The Disney Countdown to Midnight event has a live DJ, a variety of beverages on sale and lots of space to dance the night away.

The New Year’s celebrations climax with the huge fireworks display at Magic Kingdom Park where you can celebrate 2017 with some champagne.

The Five Star New Year’s Eve party at I-Drive 360 brings together local celebrities from across the city to celebrate the New Year beneath the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye.
