Epcot’s Transformation Plans Revealed

Epcot fans may already know that change is afoot at their favourite park…

Images revealed last week show how Epcot is going to be changing in the run up to the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World.

Epcot’s transformation will centre around a new play pavilion full of exciting hands-on activities and unique entertainment. The new pavilion will sit in the pavilion formerly known as Wonder of Life and will also be a place to meet your favourite Disney characters when it opens at some point before the 50th anniversary in 2021.

The new attraction will mimic an innovative and interactive new city where guests can explore, create and interact with the attraction and also with their favourite Disney Characters according to Zach Riddley, portfolio executive for Walt Disney Imagineering. “This is an experience worthy of our bold vision for Epcot – and another signature element of our transformation,” he announced.

New pathways and green spaces will also line a new main entrance design that will lead the way to a reimagined fountain area. The current Leave a Legacy photos will be moving to a spot just outside the gates in order to accommodate these changes. Plus, there will be a new Experience Center located in the Odyssey Events Pavillion, featuring interactive exhibits which will demonstrate the long-term vision of Disney’s imaginers for the park.

These are not the first transformation plans to be announced by Epcot though. In November last year, Disney announced that 4 new attractions would be opening at Epcot over the next few years. Click here to read the full blog post.
