Just got back from Orlando and I thought I would let you know all about my time in Universal.
Alot of my friends said I was mad going to Universal with 2 kids quite young "as there wasn't anything for them to do there and I was better just going to Disney". I did have a word with Attraction tickets direct when I booked my tickets and the girl on reservations put my mind at rest and said that there was plenty to see and do in Universal.
We were really lucky and it wasn't busy at all and so didn't have to queue at all for rides. But not sure what it would be like at busy times but I think you can buy passes to by-pass the worst.
We all had our favourite rides but there is 1 that I wouldn't even go on with the rest of them, so I held all the bags while the other half and kids went on Revenge of the Mummy. This would be my worst nightmare an indoor roller coaster. Mind you one of our friends use to hate roller coasters but his wife tricked him into going on it and he loves them all now. They had the old favourites Jaws and ET but to be honest Jaws does seem a bit dated now.My favourite of them all was the Men in Black ride and I was really pleased to get the most points for killing the aliens out of everybody. The kids loved Shrek and so we had to stop and wait for them to have their picture taken with Donkey and of course Shrek.
The thing is with Universal studios it is not just the rides but they have areas which are based around towns in the US. My favourite one was New York mind you, one of my favourite films is the Blues Brothers and I have found a good way of embarrassing my kids. It was when we were walking past what was a New York set and the Blues Brothers turned up in the battered old police car and started to sing and dance and of course I just had to join in and the next thing I was told to come away and not show them up. We had lunch quite late at Mel's drive-in and sat outside and watched the singers and dancers which was really good and yes I did behave myself.
Infact it was such a full day that we didn't see everything and we had to come back another day to see the rest. So I would say to anyone that has kids to go to Universal studios because there is enough to see and do for everyone.
